Mahj 101: Learn American Mah Jongg at Bridge’s End
Ready to learn American Mah Jongg? Pull up a chair and join The Poppy Pair at Bridge’s End Brewing Co. for a relaxed, beginner-friendly Mahj 101 designed especially for new players.
We’ll gather around the table and walk through the game together — from getting to know the tiles and reading the National Mah Jongg League card to the Charleston, building a hand, and playing with confidence. No previous Mah Jongg experience is needed.
Your evening also includes your choice of one craft beer, glass of wine, or cocktail from Bridge’s End, a welcoming local gathering place known for thoughtfully brewed beer and crafted cocktails. Come on your own or bring a friend — we’ll provide the tiles, instruction, and everything you need to get started.

Never touched a tile? Perfect. We’ll start with the basics and help you get comfortable with the tiles, the National Mah Jongg League card, and how the game comes together.
Looking for a Refresher
Played before but still have questions? We’ll revisit setup, the Charleston, choosing a hand, taking turns, calling tiles, and the flow of play in a relaxed, supportive setting.
Building Confidence Around the Table
Already know some of the basics? Mahj 101 is also a great opportunity to reinforce what you know, ask questions, and enjoy more guided time around the table.
No experience is required, and returning players are always welcome. Come on your own or bring a friend — there’s a seat at the table for you.
