Join The Poppy Pair for Mahj 102 in Grove City, Ohio, a fun, welcoming next-step American Mah Jongg class designed to help you move beyond the basics and play with greater confidence and purpose.

This class is best for players who have taken Mahj 101, completed another beginner American Mah Jongg class, or already have some familiarity with the game. Newer players are still welcome! A basic understanding of the tiles, the National Mah Jongg League card, and the general flow of play will help you get the most from Mahj 102.

During Mahj 102, we’ll practice:

• Looking at your dealt tiles and spotting possibilities

• Finding and comparing potential hands on the National Mah Jongg League card

• Choosing a direction without feeling pressured to find the “perfect” hand immediately

• Narrowing your choices as the game develops

• Recognizing when it may be time to pivot

• Making more thoughtful Charleston decisions

• Deciding which tiles are helping your hand—and which ones you’re ready to let go

• Watching discards and exposures for helpful clues

• Building strategy and independence at the table

• Bringing it all together as you work toward those two favorite words: Mah Jongg!
